Overview
An empirical research project investigating how convenience stores (baqalas) — a cornerstone of everyday retail in Abu Dhabi — adopt and use technology, and where operational improvements could have the greatest impact on their business performance.
Approach
- Designed and executed a dual-sample survey methodology in collaboration with NYUAD and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce
- Applied randomized introduction methods to test for framing effects on respondent behavior
- Assessed sample representativeness and external validity through comparative statistical analysis
- Identified key areas for technological improvement with direct policy implications for small retail operators
